Biography – Early Life & Career
Mayur Vakani was born and brought up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. His date of birth is 10 October 1976 (age 44 years in 2021) and his zodiac sign is Libra.
His father owns a theatre in Gujarat and was also a drawing teacher in the school. Mayur’s family was associated with background theatre, because of this, he started doing theatre when he was just 6 years old.
He did his schooling at Kameshwar High School, Ahmedabad and went to C. N. College of Fine Arts to pursue his graduation. Mayur holds an M.A. degree in Indian culture, a diploma in sculpture, and a diploma in drama.
Mayur started his acting career by doing several commercial plays. Then, he auditioned for various shows and played small roles in several TV shows.
In 2006, he starred in the Gujarati romantic action film “Ek Var Piyu Ne Malva Aavje” with veteran Gujarati actors Hiten Kumar, Vikram Thakor, Firoz Irani, Minaxi, Mamata Soni and Jayendra Maheta.
In 2007, he starred in the superhit Gujarati movie “Nahi Re Lajavu Tari Chundadi” with Hiten Kumar. He has also worked with Hiten Kumar and Ramesh Mehta in a Gujarati movie titled “Sejal Sarju“.
Since 2008, Mayur has been starring with his sister Disha Vakani in “Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma“, one of India’s most successful and longest-running shows.
In TMKOC, he is playing the character of Sundarlal who is the brother of Daya Gada (Disha Vakani).
